He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Claude and Mildred Radford Starling; his siblings, Jack Starling, Donald Ray Starling, Sr., Foy Starling and Janice Todd; and his grandson Christopher Starling.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Pittman Starling; his children, Jackie Starling of Smithfield, Donald Starling of Princeton and Angie Heil of Archer's Lodge; and also Carolyn Coble of Greensboro. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren.
