She was predeceased by: her husband James M. Bender, Sr.; and her grandson James M. Bender, III. She is survived by: her brother James T. "Pete" Killingsworth (Rennie) of New Bern; her children, Lydia Griggs (Billy) of Timberlake, Jimmy Bender (Hilda) of Pollocksville and Jennie Welborn of Durham; her grandchildren, Joann Rausch (Doug), Billy Griggs, Jr. (Jill), David Griggs, Joey Bender (Taylor) and Beth Meadows (Chris); and her great grandchildren, Julie (BJ), Caleb (Christina), Rebekah (David), Suzanne, Christa (Justin), Kayla of Matthew, DJ, Katie, Emily, Will, Christopher and Izzie. She is also survived by 10 great-great grandchildren.
