He was predeceased by: his parents, Romulus Watson and Lessie Dunbar Watson; his wife Joyce Cox; his siblings, Romulus Jr., Elvin, Gilbert Watson, Lucille Adams, Neva Pearl Gage and Sophia Cox; his grandson Andy Thompson; and his granddaughter-in-law Nicole Hardison.
He is survived by: his children, Fay Peyton (Steve) of Plymouth, NC, Preston Watson Jr. (Gwyn) of Plymouth, NC, Terry Peele (George) of Plymouth, NC and Marlene Hardison (Wilson) of Winston Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Michelle McCombs, Trevor Spruill, Jenny Clark, Joshua Hardison, Marty Thompson, Amber Peele, David Peele and Nicole Specht; his great grandchildren, Rachel, Lauren McCombs, Jayce Peele, Sebastian, Christopher, Leo Reiman, Alex, Christina Clark, Charlotte Hardison, Adalyn, Griffin Specht, Elizabeth and James Spruill; his sister Jackie Meyer; his sisters-in-law, Ruth Watson and Myra Watson; and also Preston Watson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
