He is survived by: his wife Anne; his children, Melanie Thomason (Mark) and Tom Kirkpatrick (Maggie); his brother Donald Kirkpatrick (Mary); his grandchildren, Joe Kirkpatrick, Mary Katherine Kirkpatrick, Jackson Kirkpatrick (Vannessa), Ruth Ann Wells (Joey), Jason Wood (Emily) and Emily Wood; his great grandchild Chloe Thompson; and his sister-in-law Lynda Hollis (Buddy). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at the Forbis & Dick Funeral Service - Pleasant Garden Chapel (4601 Pleasant Garden Rd, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
