He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roger Person Hathaway and Vera Kennedy Hathaway; his wife Kathy Ivey Hathaway; his sons, Brad Dawson (Tracy) of Zebulon and Jon Dawson (Lisa) of Clayton; his grandchildren, Ainsley, Liam, McKinley and Maya; and his sisters, Patricia Barbour of Pittsboro and Sheila Crabtree (Ray) of Chapel Hill.
