He is survived by: his wife Margie Cheek Brooks; his children, Randy Brooks (Belle) of Pittsboro, Steve Brooks (Terri) of Jonesboro, Phil Brooks (Lydia) of Wachapreague and Lisa Holt (Van) of Pittsboro; his siblings, Etta Thomas (Earl) of Pittsboro, Trudy Sturdivant of Pittsboro and David Brooks (Kathy) of California; his grandchildren, Cody Brooks, Emily Watson, Ches Brooks, Leah Holder, Justice Brooks, Harley Johnson, Brooks Holt, Ciara Holt and Jillian Holt; and his great grandchildren, James Watson, Mary Grace Watson, Adeline Brooks and Hayden Brooks.
