He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Claudia Walters; his stepfather Alfred Foushee; his wife Martha Hope Smith of Pittsboro; his daughters, April Hope Smith of Wilmington and Lisa Smith Powell (Bobby) of Pittsboro; his siblings, Robert Manring (Amie) of Roxboro, Jimmy Manring of Missouri, Teddy Manring (Janet) of Pittsboro, Louise Lefler of Pittsboro, Donna Bass of Chapel Hill, Amanda Valmassoi (Tony) of Morrisville and Kathy Manring of Pittsboro; and his grandchildren, Cali Powell, Hanson Powell, Quin Powell and Mason Powell. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
