He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Gill and Helen Briggs Gill; and his granddaughter Faith Michelle Matthews. He is survived by: his significant other Kimberly S. Matthews of Pittsboro; his sister Debbie Holtz, Sr. (Ken) of Clarksboro, NJ; his children, Joe Gill, Jr. (Carrie) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Sara Gill of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Teri Peters (Robert) of Dowagiac, MI and Keith Matthews (Anna) of Cassopolis, MI; his grandchildren, Willow Smith, Haileahy Peters, Lucas Wurz Matthews, Abygail Peters, Ella Gill, Benjamin Wurz Matthews, Luke Gill, Joe Gill III, Milana "Joe" Peters, Nathan Hammond, Andy David Hannafius, Freyja Lynn Peters Hammond and Charlie Rose Peters Hannafius; his parents-in-law, Charles "Joe" Grover and Donna L. Grover; and his pet Marrisa.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Joe's honor to the choice of the donor.
