He is survived by: his wife Valerie Peel; his parent Charlien Hendricks Peel; his children, Temere Gillig of Franklin, NC and John Henry Peel III of Pittsboro, NC; his grandchildren, Ryan Gillig of Franklin, Tristan Gillig of Great Lakes, MI, Cassandra Gillig of Pembroke, VA and Zachariah Gillig of Franklin; and his siblings, Ann Peel, Brenda Peel, Marilynn Cholston Shaw, James Peel, Joseph Ripley Jr., David Powers, Tony Powers, Linda Peel and Yvonne Peel. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
