It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Terrell Brooks of Pittsboro, North Carolina, born in Sanford, North Carolina, who passed away on August 14, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Gene may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Gene touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jean Leavitt Brooks and Frank Brooks; and his former wife Carolyn Stowe Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Crabtree Brooks; his children, Michael Brooks (Marybeth), Angela Brooks Everitt (Paul) and William T. Brooks (Renee); his stepdaughter Catherine Thompkins (Bryan); and his grandchildren, Dillon, Aliyah Brooks, Mary Ellen Thompkins and Brooks Michael Everitt.
