He was predeceased by: his brother Robert L. Hunter (JoAnn) of Brevard. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Taylor; his sons, Robert T. Hunter (late Sherrie) of Sebring, John C. Hunter (Sue) of Asheville and Richard L. Hunter (Sheila) of Brevard; and his brother William D. Hunter (Cleo) of Penrose. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
