She was predeceased by: her parents, Laurence DeLair and Alice Louise Hickman Smyers; and her husband Donald Nelson. She is survived by: her stepchildren, David Nelson of Las Vegas, Darryl Nelson (Kimberly) of Las Vegas and Kathy Blodgett of Las Vegas; her siblings, Jerald L. Smyers (Terri) of Maiden and Joyce S. Coggins of Ft. Mill, SC.; her grandchildren, Kimberly Nelson, Juston Nelson, Jonathan Downing and Darryl Downing; her nephews, Jason Galek (Kristen), Andrew Galek (Alyson) and Carey Smyers; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Caleb, Sofia, Janey, Addison and Evan Galek.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church (4136 Mt Pleasant Rd, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673).
