With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janet Sowers of Pineville, North Carolina, who passed away on August 29, 2021 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Moore Vaughan and Pattie Lou Howell Vaughan; her husband Frank Clyde Sowers; her son Richard William Sowers; and her siblings, Curtis Vaughan, Harold Vaughan, Wilson Vaughan, Verbena Vaughan, Foye Banks, Fannie Maye Axsom, Pat Umphlett and Vernelle Cates.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tricia Huntington of Matthews, NC and Amy Collins (Frank) of Jonesborough, TN; her daughter-in-law Valerie Sowers of O'Fallon, MO.; and her grandchildren, Evan Russell (Elizabeth Soland) of New York, NY, Blair Russell of Matthews, NC, Amanda Collins of Chapel Hill, NC and Ellie Collins of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that everyone wear a mask at the funeral to protect an immunocompromised family member.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cabarrus Meal on Wheels, 342 Penny Lane NE, Concord, NC 28025.
