He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Philips and Ginny Philips; his grandmother Eleanor Phillps; his sister Katie Philips; his brother-in-law Hal Averett; and his nephew David Averett.
He is survived by: his sister Betty Philips Douglas (Rusty) of Montreat, NC; his children, Ginny, Brett Taylor, Gracie Trainor and Philip Douglas (Marcie); his grandson Arthur of Freeport, FL; his sister Gina Philips Averett of Columbus, GA; his niece Anna Averett Johnson (Tyler); his nephew Harry Averett (Hannah); his great-nephew Hudson Whitt of Charleston, SC.; and also Hallie of Atlanta, GA.
