He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter A. Dower, Sr. and Bessie May Bengtson Dower; his wife Vivian Ann Snyder Dower; his son Richard Walter Dower; his sister June Dower Drew; and his grandson Gabriel Dower.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda (Mark Masley), Jeanie (Richard Riordan) and Debra (Dennis Genovesio); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Hintz, Katherine LeBoeuf, Matthew Dower, Amy Grady, Christopher, Brian Genovesio, Kelly Cahill, Melissa Davis and Shana Proulx. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
For over 20 years he donated his services to call square dances annually for the Portland Girl Scouts and their fathers.
