He was predeceased by: his parents, Osborne Dowe Smith, Sr. and Hazel Tilley Smith; his wife Frances Baker Smith; and his grandmother Laura Smith. He is survived by: his children, Timothy Dowe Smith (Donna) of Lexington, SC and Susan Smith Palmer (JL Palmer) of Vero Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Ashley Smith Wallace (James Wallace), Devon Smith Leger (Aaron Leger) and Corbin Jay Palmer; his great grandchildren, Olivia Leger, Harper Wallace and Quinn Wallace; his nieces and nephews, Alicia Baker Kroll, Lee Baker Wood, Glenn Pattishall and Michael Burns; his uncle Bryant (Dowe); his close friend Bill Womble, Sr.; his grandchild Devon Smith; his friend Frances; and also, Mary Elizabeth Fuquay and Donna.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 19th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Miller-Boles Funeral Home (1150 Fire Tower Rd, Sanford, NC 27330). A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 19th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
