She was predeceased by: her parents, B. V. Wilkins and Mina Sisk Wilkins; her husband James W. Mabe; her son Craig Mabe; her grandson Charlie Mabe; and her sister Margie Harris.
She is survived by: her son Steve Mabe (Anne) of Pinehurst; her grandchildren, Lisa McHenry of Greensboro, Amy Kotofsky of Winston-Salem and Brandon Mabe of Lexington; her stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth Burns of Durham and Lauren Rivers of Chapel Hill; and her sister Dana Pruette of Denver, N. C..
