He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Edward Smith and Margaret Eva Clark Smith; and his son Neil Edwin Smith (Eddie). He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Jackson Smith of Pinehurst, NC.; his son Gregory Alan Smith (Samantha) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his daughter-in-law Liz Ward Smith of Garner, NC; his granddaughters, Leslie Batten (David), Amanda Smith, Jackie Loyd (Kenny) and Rebecca Smith; his great grandchildren, Aaron and Daniel Batten; and his siblings, Mary Smith Balch (George) of Raeford, NC, Margaret Smith Kutz of Wilmington, NC and Jerry Clark Smith of Alvin.
