He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Dawkins and Dennis Dawkins; his wife Patricia Settle Dawkins; and his siblings, Ben Dawkins, Martha McNeill and Bessie Vestal.

He is survived by: his siblings, Jean Sandberg (Wayne), Douglas Dawkins (Merrie) and Roger Dawkins (Kim). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made out to West Rockingham Methodist Church at 217 W US HWY 74 E, Rockingham, North Carolina.
