He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gildner and Lois Heier. He is survived by: his children, Michael Gildner (Rosemarie) of Morehead City, NC and Paula Gildner (Stacy Hewitt) of Chapel Hill, NC; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph, Rachel, Elizabeth and Sergio.
