He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Odell Sands and Zonie Cox Sands. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Juanita Mikels Sands; his daughter Wanda Sue Sands Whittington (Ricky Whittington); his brother James Wilbert Sands; his wife Christine Moss Sands; and his grandchildren, Ryan Douglas Whittington and Brooke Leann Whittington.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
