He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lacy and Murphy Jessup Hunter; his siblings, Charlie, Dillard, Richard, Johnny, Aldie, Elmer, Billy Ray Hunter, Hallie Hooker, Ruby Wilson and Mallie Hunter; and his brother-in-law Cecil Ferguson.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda Stewart Hunter; his children, Howard C. Hunter, Jr., Glenda Hunter Jessup, Susan H. Arrington (J. R.) and Faye H. Slawter (Steve); his grandchildren, Jennifer Clayton (Kevin), Amanda Miller (Keith), Derrick Hunter (Lynn), Bruce Boyd (Georgia) and Shawn Hunter; his great grandchildren, Ryan Hunter, Molly Holt (Ben), Latham Hunter (Katie), Jesselyn Clayton, Caden Clayton, Owen Miller and Nolan Miller; and his sister Shelby Ferguson.
