With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alta JoAnn Wood of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away on October 20, 2023 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Ernest Horton and Goldia Small Watson Horton; and her siblings, Woodrow Horton, Charlie Horton, Early "Ed" Edgar Horton, Mary Earles, Betty York, Hazel Bowman, Peggy Mabe, William "Bunk" Horton, Alec Horton and Bobby Horton.
She is survived by: her son James Ray Horton; her granddaughters, Angela Horton Flippin (AJ), Bridget Horton Harris (Chad) and Shawna Horton; her great grandchildren, Destiney Flippin, Valerie Harris, Andrew Flippin, Amber Harris and Ryan Harris; her siblings, Margie Noah, Carolyn "Ruby" Daniels, Nellie Anderson, Tommy Horton, Nina Horton, Shirley Dollyhite, Ruthie Hopkins, Rhonda Gail Horton and Verna Lynn Clodfelter; and her close friend Jean Childress Conners. She is also survived by fifty-six nieces & nephews.
