It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sarah Benton Hales of Pikeville, North Carolina, born in Wayne County, North Carolina, who passed away on January 5, 2022, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie R. Benton and Bernice Frances Lane Benton; her brother Shelton Benton; and her son-in-law Steve Futch. She is survived by: her husband Clifton Earl Hales; her children, James Allen Hales (Mandy) of Fremont and Michelle Futch of Mount Olive; her brother Billy Ray Benton (Joyce) of Fremont; and her sister-in-law Mary Benton of Pikeville. She is also survived by three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
