It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Elizabeth Monk of Pikeville, North Carolina, who passed away on June 24, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Olive Leona and Elmer Thomas Buck; her husband George Bernard Monk; her sons, Lawrence Monk and Archie Monk; her children-in-law, Shelton Benton and Denise Monk; her grandsons, Lawrence Monk and Cory Rice; and her great grandchild Destiny Thompson.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Benton, John Monk, George Monk (Kim) and Elizabeth Bass; and her grandchildren, Scottie Tadlock (Toni), Stevie Tadlock (Michelle), Karen Thompson (David), Kim Westbrook (Jason), Chad Monk, Travis Monk (Elana), Jimmie Rice (Elizabeth), Jessica Monk, Erica Cribbs (Shawn), Katie Pate (Jonathan), Wayne Benton (Cindy) and Vickie Lancaster (Eric).
