He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Leander and Amanda Jackson of Nevada; his grandchildren, Austin and Savannah Thomas; and his siblings, Ruthie Davis, Wilda Long, Wanda Hardy, Betty Davis and Billy Joe Jackson.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Hayes Jackson; his children, Joseph Lee Jackson (Angie) of Wilmington and Ellen Jackson Thomas (Jeff) of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Lee Jackson, Jack Thomas and Max Thomas; and his siblings, Bernard Jackson of State Road and Sandra Wilhelm (Howard) of State Road. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
