It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verlie Mae Long of Pendleton, North Carolina, who passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Columbus Bottoms (Columbus Long); her sisters, Lois, Mozell, Calonia and Mary Ann; her niece Sierra; and her nephew Darren.
She is survived by: her mother Audrey Mae Bottoms of Pendleton; her sons, Allton Lee Long of Chesapeake, Curtis Darnell Long (Avis) of Virginia Beach and Desmond Trent Long (Morzelia) of Norfolk, Virginia; her grandchildren, Brittney, Curtis, Travis, Ketia, Denita, Desmond Jr. and Keymond; her great grandchildren, Trevon and Javion; her siblings, Ernestine Rogers (Willie) and Stafford Bottoms of Pendleton; and her aunts, Ella Mae Gatling of Pendleton and Gracie Mae Gatling of Roanoke Rapids. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
