He was predeceased by : his parents, William and Stella Dial-Chavis; his stepfather Randall W. Chavis; his sister Gloria Ann Dial; his daughter Gloria Ann Dial; his granddaughter Jo Hannah Dial; and his nephews, Marcus Locklear, Allan Locklear and Cameron Dial.

He is survived by : his wife Kathy Howard Dial; his children, William Freddie Dial Jr., Charles Richard Dial, Shellye Renee Ledbetter (John) and Crystal Chaye Dial; his grandchildren, Dante Bret Dial, Cheyenne Ashlyn Dial, Madison Paige Dial, Nevaeh Renee Ledbetter, Faith Elsie Dial, Anabella Grace Dial, Olivia Hope Dial and Nevin Paul Ledbetter; his siblings, Furman Dial (Eleate), Fayelene Locklear (Milton), Ronald Dial, Irene "Wanda" Dial, Elizabeth "Renee" Chavis, Sandy Chavis, Randy Chavis, Cindy Locklear and Bruce Brooks; and also Miia Nizhoni Sagan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 26th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Prospect Community Church (3929 Missouri Rd, Maxton, NC 28364). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 26th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
