It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lucy Bell Thomas of Pembroke, North Carolina, who passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Chesley and Emmer Oxendine (Locklear); her sons, Charles J. Thomas, Jr. and Glenn Howard Thomas; and her siblings, Forace Oxendine, Iona Jacobs Ransom, Della O. Locklear, Ester O. Hedrick, Chesley Oxendine, Jr., Martha and Melissa Oxendine.
She is survived by: her daughter Jo Ann; her son-in-law Eddie Branton of Kingston, GA; her granddaughters, Shiana T. Humphrey (Greg) of Garner, NC and Emily Thomas of Raleigh, NC; her great grandchild Micco Humphrey; and her close friends, Donna Cummings and Miranda Hammonds. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mt Airy Baptist Church (7209 North Carolina Hwy 72, Pembroke, NC 28372). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at the Oxendine Cemetery Chapel Community Oak Grove Church.
