He was predeceased by: his parents, Boss Thompson and Anna Thompson (Dial); his daughter Amelia Thompson; and his siblings, Othniel Thompson and Lucille Thompson Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Locklear Thompson; his daughter Amiria Thompson-Chavis (Dustin); his grandchildren, Micah P. Thompson-Prather of Red Springs and Ashleigh E. Prather; his brothers-in-law, Rayfield Locklear of Rowland and Hurley Locklear (Margaret); his nieces, Antonia Maria Clark and Una Gail Locklear; his nephew Wilton Clark; his caregiver Abigail Locklear; his stepgrandsons, Adrian Chavis of Rowland and Joshua Chavis of Rowland; his grandson Ezra Prather of Red Springs; his adoptive daughters, Joyce Jacobs of Red Springs and Red Springs; his friends, John Garth Britt and Jason Simmons; and also Jonathan Prather. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
