He was predeceased by: his parents, Pervis Jones and Clara Evelyn Maynor; his son Ricky Rice; and his siblings, Clara Clifton, Benda Locklear, Joe Locklear and R. C. Jones.

He is survived by: his wife Cletis Hunt; his children, Earl Rice, Dennis Rice, Carl Rice, Betty Hunt and Gail Oxendine; his sisters, Carolyn Jones, Sandra Oxendine and Betty Joyce Jones; and his friends, Brittan Clifton and Phillip Clifton. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, nineteen great great-grandchildren.
