She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Weldon Short of Yanceyville, NC and Estella Bigelow Short; her sisters, Jeanette Short and Dianne Smith; her husband Woodrow James, Jr.; her children, Harvey Short (Latonya) of Cascade, VA, Jeanette Dews (Vincent) of Burlington, NC and Janice Jones Coleman (Tony) of Burlington, NC; her siblings, Weldon Shaw of Yanceyville, NC, Charlie Albert Short, Greg Turner, Henry Turner, John Turner, Bobby Turner, Connie Evon Clarke of Mount, Savannah Hardin of Pelham, NC, Helen Shaw and Betty Turner; her grandchildren, Rhonte', Brandon, Miah (ZZ), Torri and Torria; her great grandchild Laiell; her mother-in-law Cornelia Gunn James (Woodrow Sr.) of Pelham, NC; and her sister-in-law Sharon James (Dan) of Pelham, NC. She was also cherished by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, May 28, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home, Yanceyville, NC with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
