We are sad to announce that on April 11, 2025, at the age of 94, Rachel Porter of Peachland, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Rachel departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Rachel may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Rachel leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vance Tucker and Fannie Sikes Tucker; her husband Melvin; and her son-in-law Al Griffin. She is survived by: her children, Michael Porter (Debbie), Richard Porter (Kim), Gary Porter (Wanda) and Phyllis Griffin. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Peachland United Methodist Church (131 Clinton Ave, Peachland, NC 28133). A burial was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 at 2:45 PM at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery (4694 NC-205, Oakboro, NC 28129). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 13th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Peachland United Methodist Church (131 Clinton Ave, Peachland, NC 28133).
The family requests no flowers. Memorials can be made to the Peachland UMC or Mineral Springs Baptist Church cemetery fund.
