He was predeceased by: his parent Clonnie Ray Helms; and his wife Hettie Taylor Helms. He is survived by: his parent Ivah Kate Swanner Helms; his wife Pat Helms; his daughter Robin Helms Creasman (Thomas) of Marshville; his stepchildren, Barbara Nance Mayton (Robert) of Albemarle and Joe Nance of Swansboro, NC; his siblings, Brack Helms (Doris) of Peachland and Marilene H. Gaye of Marshville; his grandchildren, Joseph Nance, Andrew Mayton (Amy) and Elizabeth M. Laws (Derek); and his great grandchildren, Emily Mayton and Ava Laws.
