He was predeceased by: his parents, William John and Mattie Lou James Bateman; his wife Norma Jean Onley Bateman; his brother William B. "Bill"; and his sister-in-law Katrina Bateman.
He is survived by: his daughter Trina Bateman Dial; his granddaughter Veronica of Parkton; and his sister Rebecca B. "Becky" Wall (Walter) of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
