He was predeceased by: his parents, James Luther Mabe, Sr. and Beatrice Worrell Mabe. He is survived by: his siblings, Linda Horne, Betty Jackson, Joan Keahery (Royice), Naomi Furmage, Deborah Williams (Joey), Curtis Mabe (Lillie) and Chris Mabe (Dixie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
