It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Wayne Smiley of Oxford, North Carolina, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Katie Williamson Smiley and Thomas Smiley; his son Craig Alan Smiley; his brother Thomas "Hop" Smiley; and his brother-in-law Lee Stiles.
He is survived by: his wife Debra Twisdale Smiley; his daughter Brooke Smiley of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Rowan Smiley and Layla Bell; his mother-in-law Bettye E. Twisdale of Townsville; his sisters, Shirley Burroughs (Bobby) of Henderson, Gloria Jean Jones (Sam) of Henderson and Nancy Smiley of Evanston, IL; and his siblings-in-law, Clarice "Reese" Smiley of Henderson, Nancy O'Geary (Bubba) of Henderson, Karen Crews (Sam) of Oxford and Lee Twisdale (Kim) of Townsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
