She was predeceased by: her parents, John Major and Nora Royster (Bernice Royster); her husband Ben William Thorpe; and her brother John Douglas Royster (Jackie). She is survived by: her children, Phyllis Jones of Las Vegas, Shirley Cassandra Bailey of Oxford, NC, LaTonya Martin (Tony) of Greensboro, NC, Ben Anthony Thorpe (Michelle) of Spanaway, WA, William Eric Thorpe (Teresa) of Durham, NC, Rodney Thorpe of Cary, NC and Timothy Maurice Thorpe (Kendra) of Fort Worth, TX.; and her siblings, James Royster (Diane), Reginald Royster (Annette), Wayne Royster (Bernice), Otis Royster (Bacote), Mary Lee Lewis (Montingue), Sharon Henderson (Kevin), Brenda Yancey (Larry), Valentina Royster and Karen Gregory (Anthony). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
