He was predeceased by: his parents, Zack F. Burnette and Nettie A. Brumitt Burnette; his son Lionel "Chip" Burnette, Jr.; and his siblings, Zack Burnette, Jr., Robert E. Burnette, Wesley Burnette and Thurman Burnette.
He is survived by: his wife Lucinda Pittard Burnette; his son Michael P. Burnette (Tonya); his grandsons, L. B. Burnette, III and Curtis C. Burnette; his siblings, Durward Burnette (Candace) and Daphne Linsinger; and his sisters-in-law, Lorena Burnette and Susan Burnette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Granville County Animal Shelter or to a charity of your choice.
