He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Long Averett and Clarice Mae Hall Averett of Keeling Virginia; his siblings, Ralph Averett, Benjamin Averett (Sharon Averett) and Joan Averett Moore (Winston Moore); his wife Joyce Jannette Strickland; his children, James Long Averett III (Dawn Cook Averett) and Cynthia Averett Barkett (George); his grandchildren, Michael, Candy, Cameron, Clete, Ethan, Micah, Hallie, Caleb, Faith and Abby; and his great grandchildren, Mckayla, Bella, Celese, Camden, Alice, Jackson and Landen.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to either your favorite charity or to one of the following organizations that Jim and Janette support; Baptist Children's Home in Thomasville NC, Samaritan's Purse, Shepard's House in Mt. Airy NC, Salvation Army, Wounded Warriors or St. Labre Indian School in Ashland MT.
