She was predeceased by: her parents, James Ernest Dawson and Wilma Mauldin Dawson; and her siblings, Rheunette Aydlotte, Elizabeth Smith, Ernest Dawson, Roy Dawson and Bobby Dawson.
She is survived by: her husband John Walton Slaton Jr.; her sons, John Slaton (Mary Nell) and James Slaton (Julie); her grandchildren, Johnny Slaton (Megan), Michael Slaton and Melanie Slaton; and her great grandchild Violet Slaton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church (2574 Ruin Creek Rd, Henderson, NC 27536). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at the Sunset Gardens (3174 Highway 158 Business, Henderson, NC 27536).
In accordance to Diane's wishes, the family request that no flowers be sent and that no one wears the color black.
