He was predeceased by: his grandfather William Burton. He is survived by: his parents, Janice Burton Smithson and Craig Smithson; his son Jaxon Bryant Smithson; his brother Eric Craig Smithson (Lindsey); his nephews, Ethan and Joshua; his grandparents, Jarvis, Ruth Smithson and Cecile Burton; and his close friend Scott Dry. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A trust fund will be set up in the near future if anyone would like to make donations to Chase's son.
