He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Thorpe and Mamie T. Latta. He is survived by: his wife Vivian Diane Thorpe; his children, Mamie Rose Thorpe of Henderson, NC, Ben Thorpe Jr., Jimmy Thorpe and Lamont Thorpe of Henderson, NC; his stepson Godfrey Handy of Creedmoor, NC; his brother Jake Thorpe (Barbara) of Oxford, NC; and his uncle John Green. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
