She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Millsaps and Irene Givens Millsaps; her husband Arthur Bailes; and her sisters, Gwen and Lois.

She is survived by: her children, Dennis Gilreath (Amantha), Jane Johnson (Charles) and David Gilreath. She is also survived by six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Julia's name to Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, North Carolina 28625.
