He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Martin Mitchell and Willie Mae Rumple Mitchell; his brothers, William Roger Mitchell (Rose) and Keith Nolan Mitchell; and his grandson Johnathan Sharpe.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Felts Mitchell; and his daughters, Amy M. Pennington, Anita M. Long (Jerry) and JoAnna C. Mitchell. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
