He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sons, Joseph "Joe" D. Pitts of Nebo and William "Bill" Pitts of Old Fort; his siblings, Richard Scott (Annie) of Black Mountain and Judy Bridges of Swannanoa; and his child Deborah Lynn Lewis of McDowell County. He was also cherished by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
