He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Hughes and Della Estap Hughes; his wife Thelma Parker Hughes; his children, Frank Hughes (Joan) of Old Fort, Nancy Thompson of Florida, Michael Hughes (Linda) of Washington, DC and Mark Hughes of Old Fort; and his brother Jim Hughes of Florida. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
