She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Leonard Lavender and Maggie Davis Owens; her sons, Dennis Owenby of Old Fort, NC, Jim Owenby (Jo-Ann) of New Bern, NC and Keith Owenby (Wilma) of Old Fort, NC; her grandchildren, Jayme Bradley and Jayda Russell (Adam); her great grandchildren, Corbin, Abel and Haley; and her sisters, Irene Bonebrake of Marion, IA, Barbara Roland (Donald) of Clemmons, NC, Joyce Nettles of Nebo, NC and Mary Sue Sigmon of Nebo, NC..
