He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Whitaker and Helen Porter Whitaker; his son Jay Wesley Whitaker; and his brother Kim B. Whitaker. He is survived by: his son Joey Lee Whitaker of Apex, NC; his siblings, Amanda Gregory of Greensboro, NC, Mark A. Whitaker (Jae) of Greensboro, NC and Robin W. Whitaker (Regina) of Hillsborough, NC; his brother-in-law Brian Gregory; the mother of his children Vicky Whitaker Jarmin Masingale; his niece Taylor Gregory; and his nephews, Camden Gregory, Paul Whitaker and Ethan Whitaker.
