He was predeceased by: his parents, Dries Vandenberg and Rosemary Vandenberg; and his sister Christine Vandenberg. He is survived by: his siblings, John Vandenberg, Joan Philipp, Anthony Vandenberg, Patricia Bonatis, Kathleen and Timothy; his wife Amy; his sons, Andrew of Charlotte, NC and Adam; his daughter-in-law Marissa of Charlotte, NC; his daughter Melanie; and his granddaughter Alice.

In lieu of flowers and given David's long career in food service, the family requests donations be made in his name to St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church Loaves and Fishes.
